4AMCDRR Pre-Conference Workshop
on
Designing for Disaster and Climate Resilience

During the 4th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction with the theme " Disaster Risk Reduction through Climate Change Adaptations", the Global Facility for Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery(GFDRR) and the World Bank are organising a one day workshop in partnership with the National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA), Government of South Korea, and UN/ISDR. This workshop " Designing for Disaster and Climate Change" which will take place prior to the 4th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction(AMCDRR) at the Global Education and Training Institute(GETI) on 24th October, 2010, in Incheon, South Korea.

This pre-conference workshop will focus on areas of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptations (CCA). Approximately 50 participants including government representatives, development practitioners, selected experts and senior policy makers will attend this one day long immersion workshop.

The objectives of the workshop are to transfer knowledge, present good practices from the Asian countries, and support the 4th AMCDRR ministerial declaration. The sessions will mainly focus on a) Building Safer Communities: Getting ready for the next floods; b) Early Warning Systems: Predicting the risks; and c) Disaster Preparedness: Facing the unexpected.

All support will be provided for participation in the workshop on 24th October and the AMCDRR conference from 25-28 October 2010. Please click below the agenda and the registration form.

Due to limited number of participants to be enrolled for the workshop on 24th October, 2010 the final selection of participants will be done "subject to availability".
