What is Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction(AMCDRR) ?

 - Asian disaster management ministers and international organizations' official conference sponsored by UN ISDR since 2005 in order to reduce disaster risk in the Asian area after the December, 2004 catastrophic Tsunami incident in South Asia

 

History of AMCDRR

   January 2005: World Conference on Disaster Reduction held in Kobe, Japan
        Adopted The Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA)
    - The HFA is a global blueprint for the disaster risk reduction efforts for the next decade.
    - Its goal is to substantially reduce disaster losses by the year 2015

   August 2005 : 1st AMCDRR (Beijing, China)            
        Adopted  "Beijing Action for Disaster Risk Reduction"    
    - Promoting the newly-adopted HFA and to seek Asian Governments' commitment and actions to  implement
        Disaster Risk Reduction.

   November 2007: 2nd AMCDRR (New Delhi, India)            
        Adopted "Delhi Declaration"
    - Expanding further the biennial AMCDRR as the regional platform through participation of the national governments,          regional organizations, UN Agencies, and other stakeholders.

   December 2008: 3rd AMCDRR (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
        Adopted "Kuala Lumpur Declaration"
    - Promoting Multi-stakeholder Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Asia and Pacific region,
        with a particular focus on the Public Private Partnership.
